LAGRANGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Two teenagers were hospitalized after their vehicle overturned when the driver tried to pass another vehicle in Cass County.
Shawn Haley, 16, from Dowagiac was driving west on Peavine Street when he attempted the passing maneuver, witnesses told police.
Shawn lost control of his vehicle, then over-corrected, resulting in the vehicle overturning near Oak Grove Road in LaGrange Township, according to a news release.
Police and rescue personnel arrived at the scene around 7:16 p.m. April 27.
A medical helicopter transported Shawn to Memorial Hospital of South Bend.
His passenger, 17-year-old Katelyn Brooks, was transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.
The victims wore their seat belts, police said.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
The rink will be open that day from 3-9 p.m.
