LENEXA, Kan. (WOOD) - A 46-year-old Holland man is in a Kansas jail after allegedly engaging in a relationship with a 16-year-old girl.
Richard Jessie Smith was charged in Lenexa, Kan. Monday with sexual exploitation of a child, court records show.
The girl had been reported as a runaway on Saturday by her parents, according to the Lenexa Police Department.
Police soon learned she had been involved in an online relationship with Smith. Police said Smith went to Lenexa to meet up with the girl.
He was found Sunday near a Lenexa motel with the 16-year-old and arrested.
Smith's bond was set at $25,000.
He does not have a history of criminal sexual conduct in Michigan.
Lenexa is about 14 miles southwest of Kansas City.
