GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A 40-year-old Hudsonville man was hurt when a ditch collapsed on him Thursday.
It happened around 1 p.m. in the area of Jasper and Zion drives in Georgetown Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department.
Brian Segard was part of an excavating crew working on a new section of road. He was in a ditch when the walls began to collapse around him. He was trapped from the waist down.
Other workers freed him before first responders arrived. Rescuers then stabilized him and lifted him out of the ditch on a stretcher.
He was taken to a local hospital via ambulance with injuries to his legs and pelvis and possible internal injuries.
