RAVENNA, Mich. (WOOD) - Ottawa County dispatch traffic from the bank robbery, chase and shootout that left three men dead -- one of them Walker Police Officer Trevor Slot -- narrates that tragic day.
The chase started off with a simple report of a bank robbery at the ChoiceOne Bank in Ravenna.
Soon, police from several departments were hot on the tail of Kris Cheyne and Darryl LaFave as they barreled down I-96 in a blue Bravada.
As Officer Slot prepared to lay down stop sticks, he was hit by the suspects' vehicle and killed.
The chase came to an end when Cheyne and LaFave's SUV crashed.
They exited the vehicle and a shootout with police ensued. Both men were killed.
