MACATAWA, Mich. (WOOD) - Demolition began Wednesday morning at the Macatawa Bay Yacht Club to make room for a new clubhouse.
The club, which is on South Shore Drive off Macatawa Bay, is the home port for Doug and Dick DeVos, whose boat won the 333-mile Chicago-to-Mackinac Island race in July.
In May, club members voted to demolish the current building and build a new one.
The new clubhouse will be an expanded two-story building.
The current building is 50 years old. It was built in 1963 after a fire burned the club to the ground.
