COOPERSVILLE, Mich (WOOD) - Walker police were involved in a chase Saturday morningstretching across county lines into Coopersville.
It all started about 1:45 a.m. Walker police stopped avehicle on I-96 westbound near Fruitridge Ave. The driver,suspected of drunk driving, took off westbound and a chaseensued.
Walker police tell 24 Hour News 8 that they pursed the vehicleat speeds topping 90 MPH.
The chase ended at the intersection of Hayes St. and 48th Ave.The driver in the suspected vehicle struck an Ottawa County SheriffDeputy's vehicle side rear door at the intersection. The deputy inthe vehicle was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries,checked out & released from the hospital.
The driver, a 22-year-old Byron Center woman, was not hurt inthe incident and was arrested. She will be charged with fleeing andeluding police, operating a vehicle while intoxicated & drivingwhile license suspended.
