WRIGHT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A music teacher riding his bicycle died after being hit by a car in Ottawa County.
The crash happened at 3:20 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of 24th Avenue and Musketawa Trail just north of Marne, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say 55-year-old Jeffrey Looman of Walker was headed west on Musketawa Trail and did not stop at the 24th Street intersection, at which point he was hit by a southbound Saturn Vue driven by a 56-year-old Coopersville man.
The Coopersville man could not stop in time and struck Looman.
Looman was thrown into a ditch. CPR was performed and Aero Med was called, but Looman died at the scene.
The driver of the car was not hurt.
Looman was wearing a helmet.
He was a music teacher at Calvin Christian Schools, according to Calvin Christian Facebook page.
