GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Grand Rapids man who violated the school safety zone as a sexoffender was sentenced Tuesday to one year in jail.
Benjamin Walcott has credit for 69 days served. He will be heldat the Ionia County jail.
Walcott is a registered sex offender who wasn't allowed onschool grounds. He previously had admitted to Ionia County JudgeRaymond Voet he was at Belding High School.
Michigan State Police officials told 24 Hour News 8 they hadbeen investigating his case for two years. Walcott, they said, usedthe alias Benjamin Albright and helped at football camps in Ottawa,Allegan and Ionia counties, and at least once on school property inBelding.
