TROY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A man who Newaygo County authorities had been searching for has been found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Luke William Eaves, 40, of Troy Township left his home Friday, according to the Newaygo County Sheriff's Office. They said he sent a text to his wife and stepdaughter around 4:30 p.m. saying goodbye.
It's believed he came home from work on Friday afternoon, got into his pickup truck and drove off. The sheriff's departments from both Newaygo and Oceana counties, along with Michigan State Police and the Department of Natural Resources, had been searching for him.
Around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Eaves' pickup truck was found in a wooded area near 6 Mile Road and Baldwin Avenue, according to the Newaygo County Sheriff's Office. His body was found nearby.
He appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
