SHEPHERD, Mich. (WOOD) - A man has been arrested after police said he robbed and attempted to abduct a woman Wednesday.
The incident happened just after 8:20 p.m. at the Dollar General in Shepherd.
According to officials, a 23-year-old St. Louis woman was shopping in the store when she was grabbed from behind and forced into the back room of the store. The man demanded money from the victim and threatened to kill her if she screamed.
The suspect, 36, was armed with a pair of scissors and threatened to pull a gun from his pocket. The man then took the victim's phone, bound her hand and covered her mouth with a paper towel and tape.
After he bound the victim, the suspect fled the store on foot.
Officers tracked the suspect from the store and found clothing that the suspect discarded. Inside the suspect's car, officers found marijuana and additional evidence of the crime.
The man then confessed to the attack and is currently in jail facing charges.
A mechanic was rammed through the back door of a lube shop after being hit by a customer's SUV.
