LUDINGTON, Mich. (WOOD) - A man pleaded guilty Tuesday to his part in a May crash that killed a couple on a motorcycle.
Matthew Ryan Millspaugh pleaded guilty in a Mason County courtroom to misdemeanor moving violation causing death.
Carol and Gary Berenbrock were killed May 27 as they rode their motorcycle along US-31 near Scottville.
On that day, investigators said, Millspaugh's Pontiac Montana minivan crossed the center line on US-31 just south of Fountain Road and hit the Berenbrock's motorcycle.
Carol Berenbrock was a fixture at two popular downtown Grand Rapids restaurants - One Trick Pony and The Cottage Bar -- for 25 years.
Millspaugh was sentenced to one year discretionary jail sentence, meaning he will not serve jail time unless he commits another criminal violation. He was also sentenced to $580 in fines and 150 hours of community service.
About a dozen people were displaced.
