WHITE CLOUD, Mich. (WOOD) - The body of a Rockford man who was last seen tubing on the Muskegon River on Saturday has been found.
Christopher O'Connor's body was found around 3 p.m. Monday in the river. The 32-year-old was reported missing around 5 p.m. Saturday by family members.
O'Connor was in a group of about 10 people that started tubing at the Croton Dam south of White Cloud, and finished at the Thornapple access area, his mom told 24 Hour News 8.
An intense and physical altercation, involving an unknown number of people, ensued along the banks of the river, family members said.
The group then continued down the river and noticed O'Connor was not with them.
O'Connor was not able to swim, according to family members.
A Michigan State Police helicopter and officers from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources searched a 7-mile stretch of the river and its banks on Sunday. A Newaygo County Sheriff's Department dive team searched a 1-mile stretch of the river, but came up empty-handed.
