ROTHBURY, Mich. (WOOD) - One person died Thursday on the opening day of the Electric Forest Festival in Rothbury.
Joseph Bud Norris, 21, of Portage suffered a medical emergency around 12:40 p.m. and later died, according to Michigan State Police.
Norris was working at the festival, where he had been hired by an outside contractor, MSP said.
The cause of his death is not yet known.
When asked what kind of work Norris was doing at the festival, Madison House, the group putting on the festival, said it did not know who he was working for and had no information about him.
In 2012, a 37-year-old Connecticut man died at Electric Forest Festival of an overdose. In 2008, there were two drug-related deaths at the Rothbury Festival, the precursor to Electric Forest Festival.
In 2009, there were 88 arrests at the Rothbury Festival.
Electric Forest Festival runs through Sunday.
It might be December but that is not stopping some people from "hanging 10" in Michigan.
