NORTON SHORES, Mich. (WOOD) - A Norton Shores man is behind bars, accused of stabbing his mother several times, Norton Shores police say.
At about 9:40 p.m. on Feb. 25, police were called to the 2600 block of Fairfield Road in Norton Shores to a "domestic situation," according to the Norton Shores Police Department.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a 45-year-old woman who had been stabbed in the chest and back five times. She was taken to Hackly Hospital and is recovering.
The man accused of stabbing the woman is the victim's son, who lives in the same residence as his mother. The 26-year-old son was arrested in Muskegon Heights not long after the incident.
The son, Dontell Demetrius-Lovel Coleman, was arraigned on charges of assault with intent to murder on Monday.
Coleman is being held at the Muskegon County Jail on $100,000 bond.
