Initially, 24 Hour News 8 was told by the Muskegon Heights Fire Department that the victim was apparently shot.
Then Muskegon Heights Police Chief Lynne Gill later told 24 Hour News 8 the victim was not shot, but rather beaten.
The chief said the 32-year-old victim from the area possibly knows the suspect who is not in custody.

About a dozen people were displaced.
