MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) - The Muskegon City Commission approved the demolition of a closed paper mill at its Tuesday meeting.
The Sappi Fine Paper Power House building will be imploded on Oct. 27, though a precise time has not yet been set.
The structure, located at 2400 Lakeshore Drive, consists of a power plant and smoke stacks.
The mill closed in 2009, laying off 190 employees.
A plan to build an outlet mall in Byron Township did not move forward as expected Monday, MLive is reporting.
A bill before the House would hold back third-grade students who are not proficient in reading.
Power lines blocked busy 28th Street near the Grand Rapids-Kentwood border Monday evening.
