HOLTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities were removing dynamite from a freezer in a West Michigan home.
A state police bomb squad on Tuesday morning was sent to the house in Holton Township, MSP Lt. Chris McIntire confirmed to 24 Hour News 8.
McIntire told 24 Hour News 8 that a woman and her son were cleaning out the home of a man who died about five years ago.
McIntire said the two remembered that the man had the dynamite in the freezer and called the bomb squad to dispose of it. The bomb squad responded and burned the dynamite.
McIntire says instances like this happen occasionally.
Muskegon County Sheriff Dean Roesler told MLive.com that old dynamite is dangerous because it could be unstable.
