EDMORE, Mich. (WOOD) - A 14-year-old male impaled himself on a piece of metal that he was carrying when he fell off his skateboard, police said.
The teen was riding around 4:51 p.m. Thursday near Fifth Street and Pine Street in Edmore when the incident occurred.
He lost his balance on the board and landed on the 1/4-inch piece of metal that was about 2 to 3 feet in length.
The boy was alert and able to talk to Montcalm County authorities and rescue personnel when they arrived at the scene.
He was first transported to the MidMichigan Health in Alma. A medical helicopter than transferred him to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
The teen is listed in good condition and expected to make a full recovery, police said.
Police are looking for the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at a gas station in Plainwell Thursday night.
The rink will be open that day from 3-9 p.m.
