CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD/AP) - Former President George W. Bush spoke at a fundraiser for a local academy on Wednesday afternoon.
The former president spoke to a sold-out crowd of about 900 people for a fundraiser for the West Michigan Aviation Academy at the second annual Leaders of Tomorrow Gala.
The event took place at a hangar at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Cascade Township. The academy is also located on the airport grounds.
The event raised $400,000, according to the Associated Press. It included a social reception, dinner and program, according to organizers.
The West Michigan Aviation Academy is a free, public charter high school founded by Dick DeVos. It opened in 2010.
