GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Rumors of an arrest in the Kentwood double homicide at a Target ends up with a man confessing to stealing several cars and huffing from an aerosol can in the store's parking lot.
Around 11 a.m. Saturday, Kent County deputies were called out to the Target parking lot off M-6 and Town Center Drive on a report of someone almost getting hit by a vehicle.
Authorities arrived on scene finding a suspect who admitted to stealing two cars. The suspect stole the first one from the Kalamazoo area.
He crashed that car near the Kentwood, Wyoming border Saturday morning.
The suspect then found a yellow car with the keys in it, and took it for a ride.
Authorities found the suspect in the yellow car in the Target parking lot; the suspect told deputies he was huffing from an aerosol can.
Authorities say he admitted to stealing both cars. Kentwood detectives responded to the scene to see if he was one of the persons of interest in the double homicide, but cleared the man of any involvement in the Bouwman murders.
