WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) - A memorial was held Monday evening on the one-year anniversary of a crash that left two Wyoming Park High School students dead.
Timothy See, 17, and Krysta Howell, 15, were killed in the early-morning May 20, 2012 single-vehicle rollover crash on the I-196 off-ramp to Chicago Drive. Three other students were injured.
Driver Takunda Mavima, a classmate, later pleaded guilty to two counts of operating with intoxicated causing death and an amendment count of OWI causing injury. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison in September 2012.
Organizers of the memorial of the event put up a 12-foot cross at the site of the crash. Attendees released balloons and Chinese lanterns near the exit.
