SPARTA, Mich. (WOOD) - A roof repair contractor fell to his death at the Federal Mogul facility in Sparta late Monday morning.
Brian Tarachanowicz, employed by Black River Builders , was working to repair and replace sections of the roof when he fell about 30 feet to the floor, Sparta Police Chief Andrew Milanowski said.
He apparently stepped on a weak part of the structure and fell through. He died at the scene. T arachanowicz was 38.
Milanowski said it appears to be a construction accident.
An investigator from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration arrived in the early afternoon.
The workers at the Sparta plant were sent home for the day shortly before noon.
Organizers say it would mark the largest effort yet in a push for higher pay.
