GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A 17-year-old East Kentwood High School student will serve jail time for sexually assaulting another student.
Jaylen Young was sentenced Thursday to one year in jail, one year on a tether and five years of probation.
Police say he took a female student into a secluded part of the school and forced an unwanted sex act on her.
Young was arrested in April. Last month, he took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
During his sentencing Thursday, Young apologized to the victim and her family.
Police are investigating a report of a home invasion, but say there are inconsistencies.
Police say they haven't been able to find out which student was responsible after a Muskegon kindergartner was choked with his own scarf on the playground.
Two people were hurt when a car and delivery truck collided Wednesday morning.
