GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - This month, you may notice a purple ribbon magnet on all GRPD cruisers. They're a symbol of the police department's support to end domestic violence.

Mayor George Heartwell said the Rodrick Dantzler killing spree in July brings the issue of domestic violence out of the shadows and into the light. Dantzler killed seven people, including his wife and former girlfriend, before killing himself.
