GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - There have been about five larcenies from vehicles parked at or near Kent County churches in the last month.
The incidents happened June 23 and 30 and July 7 in the 68th Street corridor in Gaines and Cascade townships, according to the Kent County Sheriff's Department. One church on 68th Street has had three larcenies.
In a few cases, windows of vehicles have been broken out. In others, the vehicles were unlocked.
The thieves are taking purses, credit cards and other items. In some cases, purses were visible through windows, which likely drew the thieves' attention.
The sheriff's department recommends hiding valuables in unattended vehicles so they can't been seen through the windows. They also recommend locking the car.
