PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Calhoun County sheriff's deputies are trying to find out what happened to a woman found lying injured in the road north of Battle Creek Monday night.
It happened on Morgan Road at the Capital Avenue intersection in Pennfield Township, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies were called to the scene just before 11 p.m. after reports of a crash, they found an injured woman lying in the road.
As of Tuesday, the woman remained hospitalized in critical condition at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Investigators later located a semi-truck that had been pulling two trailers and may have been turning at the intersection. They say the rear of one of those trailers may have hit the woman as the truck turned.
Deputies are also investigating whether a second vehicle turning behind the trailer may have run over the woman after she fell.
Anyone who may have been near the intersection or may have witnessed the incident is asked to call the sheriff's department at 269.781.0880 or Silent Observer at 269.781.9700.
