KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A South Carolina man is dead after shooting himself in the head while riding in a pickup truck early Saturday morning.
Kalamazoo Township Police got a 911 call around 12:20 a.m. Saturday about a man being shot in the 3500 block of Market Street. They were told the victim was being taken to the hospital by a personal vehicle.
Township officers were already at the Kalamazoo hospital on an unrelated incident when a Ford F250 Super Duty truck arrived with the victim and four other occupants.
The victim, a 24-year old man from South Carolina, was treated for his injuries, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
After talking to the four other people in the truck, police believe shot himself in the head with a pistol he was holding while riding in the backseat of the truck
The victim’s name has not being released at this time as authorities continue to notify his family.
