OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A 23-year-old woman was injured after her vehicle crashed into a home, where falling debris struck a sleeping child.
The woman was driving east on W. Main Street when her Kia Sportage veered off the road, struck a utility trailer and RV parked in a driveway, and then struck the corner of a home west of Second Street in Oshtemo Township.
Police and rescue personnel arrived at the scene around 11:35 p.m. Thursday.
Police said it appears the woman was speeding prior to the crash, and may have been drunk, according to a news release from Michigan State Police.
The driver suffered a significant leg injury and transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, police said.
A 9-year-old boy was asleep in the room near where the impact occurred at the residence. He was treated at the scene.
The SUV, home, utility trailer and RV sustained extensive damage.
