ALBION, Mich. (WOOD) - A man was arrested after allegedly setting his house on fire and fleeing the scene.
Albion Department of Public Safety was called to 311 Burr Oak St. in Albion at 9:45 p.m. Saturday for a report of a domestic assault involving a man with a gun. When officers arrived at the house, they saw a lot of smoke billowing from it.
Due to the heavy smoke, officials believed no one could still be inside the house, according to a news release from Albion Department of Public Safety.
Firefighters from Sheridan Township searched the inside of the house for the man while officers and Calhoun County sheriff's deputies waited outside to see if he would leave the house.
Once the fire was extinguished, police were not able to find the suspect.
The suspect was later located at a Citgo gas station nearby near Michigan Avenue and Superior Street after someone reported he looked suspicious.
Police said the incident is still under investigation.
