PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) - A Kalamazoo County Sheriff's deputy faces a drunk driving charge after being arrested while off duty in the early hours of Thursday.
Around 2 a.m., April Barfoot's car was seen running with its lights on and door open in a bank parking lot in the 7900 block of Portage Road, Portage police Sgt. Greg Wessendorf confirmed to 24 Hour News 8 Thursday evening.
Barfoot, 34, was arrested on the scene, Wessendorf said.
Dashcam video shows police first pulling up to Barfoot's car in the bank parking lot. Portage police then asked Barfoot to step out of the car. They spent about two minutes questioning her before putting her in handcuffs.
Because she works for Kalamazoo County, she was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail.
Barfoot was arraigned Thursday on one count of first-offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
