KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Jury selection is to begin in the murder trial of a southwesternMichigan couple whose teenage daughter died in a house fire whilechained to her bed.
Jurors in the trial of Anthony and Marsha Springer will be chosen fromamong about 210 people starting Friday in Kalamazoo County CircuitCourt.
St. Joseph County Circuit Judge Paul Stutesman will presideover the trial after granting a defense motion for a change ofvenue in October.
The Springers are charged with felony murder, torture andfirst-degree child abuse in the February 2008 death of 16-year-old Calista Springer.
Her father has said she had special needs and the tetheringwas necessary to keep her from leaving her bedroom and theirCentreville home at night.
