BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) - FireKeepers Casino repaid a $35 million loan four years earlierthan its due date.
The casino, along I-94 at Exit 104, opened a year ago. The $35million loan helped the casino owners, the Nottawaseppi Huron Bandof the Potawatomi, buy nearly 2,700 slot machines and was paid offon August 12, 2010.
In a statement, the owners said the FireKeepers Casino hasperformed well and "has been an economic engine for south centralMichigan."
About 1,500 people work at the casino in Calhoun County.
The numbers for the $636 million Mega Millions jackpot were drawn Tuesday night. Now, the country waits to see if there's a winner of the second largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history.
