KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A family is without a home after a fire destroyed their house Saturday night.
It happened just before 11 p.m. on Palmer Avenue near March Street in Kalamazoo.
When public safety officers got to the scene, they found the front porch and living room engulfed in flames.
A neighbor was able to force open the rear door of the home to save one of the resident's two dogs before officers arrived on scene. The other family's dog died as a result of the fire.
No one was home when the fire sparked and it remains under investigation.
