EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Calhoun County authorities are looking for a man who they say is trying to lure children into his vehicle.
A 9-year-old girl was walking into Wattles Park Elementary School in Emmett Township when a man allegedly asked the child to get into a pickup truck around 8 a.m. Sept. 27.
The child said no and went into the school. The suspect left the scene moments later, police said.
Authorities describe the suspect as an older, white male with long, gray/white hair, a beard and glasses. The suspect's vehicle is described as a dark-colored, small pickup truck.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Emmett Township Department of Public Safety at 269.968.9303 or contact Silent Observer at 269.964.3888.
Authorities believe there are similarities between the suspect in this attempted abduction and a similar case that occurred Sept. 22 in Battle Creek. Police said a man walked into Piper Park, picked up a 3-year-old girl and began to walk away. The child's babysitter confronted the man who released the child and left the scene.
