KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - An 18-year-old sustained non-life-threatening injuries when he was shot in Kalamazoo Wednesday.
It happened around 2:45 p.m. in the 900 block of Clinton Avenue near Race Street, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
Officers responded to reports of shots being fired within a large crowed. When they arrived, they found one person who had been shot a block away.
The 18-year-old from Kalamazoo declined treatment at the scene and was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in a private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim provided very little information to police regarding the incident, a department spokesman said.
The suspect is described as a black male his late teens or early 20s. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue shorts and a tan fisherman's hat. He took off on a gray mountain bike.
