KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says the cause of an apartment fire that left one woman dead earlier this month is undetermined.
The fire broke out at the Village Apartments on Lilac Lane near West Michigan Avenue just after midnight on Oct. 14.
KDPS Fire Marshal Jim Williams completed his investigation into the blaze on Wednesday. He said the cause of the fire will be listed as undetermined.
KDPS did not provide more details.
Firefighters from three departments responded to rescue residents and douse the fire, which eventually caused the roof to collapse.
One woman died, despite firefighters' attempts to find and rescue her.
Another resident was taken to the hospital with serious burns and seven families were relocated.
Police are investigating a report of a home invasion, but say there are inconsistencies.
A Kalamazoo County sheriff's deputy will not face criminal sexual conduct charges.
A candlelight vigil was held Wednesday night for an innocent bystander who was shot and killed in October.
