EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Two people are accused of stealing wire and other property from a haunted forest in Calhoun County.
The Emmett Township Department of Public Safety was notified on Monday about the theft at Kimball Pines County Park, 1150 E. Michigan Ave.
The wire is used to power various items in the forest. It was cut from trees and later sold for scrap. The wire is valued at more than $1,000.
Detectives tracked and recovered the stolen property to a local scrapyard. Employees of the facility helped detectives with descriptions of the suspects.
Several people were then questioned and two of them were arrested on numerous charges.
The recovered property was returned to the haunted forest, which is scheduled to open on Friday and located behind the Calhoun County Medical Care facility.
Fred Glespie was found not guilty in the death of three children who died in an apartment fire.
Police are looking for the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at a gas station in Plainwell Thursday night.
The rink will be open that day from 3-9 p.m.
