KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - The man found dead in the trunk of a car Thursday afternoon wasmurdered, police say.
The victim is 51-year-old Troy Maurice Scott of the Galesburgarea, according to investigators. Kids on Scott's block called him"grandpa" and he was a well-liked man who had lived in the area fora long time, one of his neighbors said.
Police went to the 800 block of Gibson Street in Kalamazoo onThursday to investigate a suspicious situation. They found the carat around 4 p.m. in the driveway of a vacant home.
Investigators spent several hours on the scene collectingevidence. A cause of death has been determined but police are notreleasing that information.
Officers do not know of any connection between the victim andthe vacant home, they say. They would not release any informationabout the vehicle Scott was found in.
Some neighbors first noticed the car in the driveway Thursdaymorning, they told 24 Hour News 8. Others say the vehicle had satin that spot for several days.
Scott had been dead for one to two weeks before his body wasdiscovered, according to investigators.
But Scott's home had not been robbed, police say.
