KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A 35-year-old Kalamazoo man now faces a first-degree murder charge in a nearly eight-year-old case, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety announced late Monday afternoon.
Besham Sugrim was arraigned Monday, charged in the Sept. 14, 2003 death of Linda Gibson, the department stated in a news release.
Gibson's body was found in the 2200 block of Palmer Street several hours after she was killed.
No suspect was positively identified, investigators said, and "the case eventually went cold when no further leads were obtained," KDPS reported.
But this May, investigators received new information that pointed them to Sugrim, investigators said. The 35-year-old is in jail with no bond.
KDPS asks anyone with information on the case to call the department at 269.337.8994 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
