COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office has identified the 82-year-old bicyclist who was killed Saturday morning after being hit by a car.
The accident happened around 10:45 a.m. in the 5600 block of Gull Road in Comstock Township.
The bicyclist, James Sell, of Parchment, rode his bike out of a private drive onto Gull Road but failed to yield to westbound traffic, according to the sheriff's office.
Sell was hit by a 54-year-old driver from Richland, who was unable to avoid the crash. That driver was not injured.
Members of the Comstock Township Fire Department treated Sell at the scene. He was taken by ambulance to Borgess Medical Center and pronounced deceased.
Sell was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to the sheriff's office.
Neither alcohol nor speed were factors in the accident.
