KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - A portion of a Kalamazoo County highway was closed for more than six hours after two semi-trucks collided.
It happened around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday on eastbound Interstate 94 near Sprinkle Road in Kalamazoo.
One of the trucks rear-ended the other that had slowed due to a traffic backup, according to a news release.
The crash injured the at-fault semi driver who was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital and listed in critical condition.
The other driver was not hurt.
One of the trailers was damaged to the point that the contents had to be off-loaded to another trailer before it could be towed.
The road reopened around 4:47 a.m.
A man is in jail, allegedly connected to 14 burglaries that occurred in Cass County this month.
A sheriff's deputy car and a Michigan State Police SUV were among the damaged vehicles.
