GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A teen who pleaded guilty to raping a Grand Valley State University student after she got off a bus on the southwest side of Grand Rapids in September 2012 will spend an unspecified length of time in a secure juvenile facility.
Marco Vazquez, who was 14 at the time of the attack, will then be on probation after his release. The judge has the discretion to sentence him to prison for no less than 11 years, four months and no more than 18 years, nine months.
He also admitted being an accessory after the fact in the Sept. 10 rape and unarmed robbery in the area of Valley Avenue and W. Fulton Street.
Another male, 16-year-old Felipe Lopez-Velasquez, confessed after the 21-year-old victim and a witness picked him out of a police line-up.
