GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A paraprofessional accused of inappropriately touching students said he isn't interested in a plea deal with prosecutors and wants to continue with previously scheduled plans for a trial.
Kevin Dengel used to work at Sherwood Park Global Studies Academy in Grand Rapids. While there, investigators said he allegedly touched one student's chest and another's backside in a hallway.
Before his trial was set to begin Monday morning, prosecutors offered Dengel the chance to plead guilty to one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. In exchange for the plea, he would get no jail time.
But Dengel, 44, rejected the offer.
Jury selection then began for the trial.
