GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A Grand Rapids mother has been charged with stabbing her daughter's boyfriend five times.
Marie Mikel, 53, was arrested and arraigned Monday on felonious assault and being a habitual offender.
The stabbing happened around 3 a.m. Monday in the 800 block of Kalamazoo Avenue SE in Grand Rapids, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.
A police report says the daughter's boyfriend poked the mom in the face. Police confirmed that the daughter's boyfriend was stabbed five times and sustained non-life threatening wounds.
GRPD told 24 Hour News 8 Monday morning that it was the daughter's father who was arrested and accused of stabbing the boyfriend.
But Tuesday, they said the mother had been arrested. The police report says the father was never involved in the case. The parties involved tried to get him to help and he didn't leave his room.
Mikel posted bond and was released. She is expected back in court for a preliminary hearing on July 24.
Vehicles occupied by a sheriff's deputy and a Michigan State Police motor carrier officer were hit.
A fire damaged three garages and some homes in a Grand Haven neighborhood early Thursday morning.
The suspects stole cash and fled the scene.
