GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A small group gathered at Martin Luther King Park in Grand Rapids Sunday afternoon to protest after Florida man George Zimmerman was found not guilty of the murder of teen Trayvon Martin.
The group made signs and walked the streets in the neighborhood to voice their support for Martin's family.
They said the verdict sent a disappointing message.
"It hurts," said organizer Misty Pruitt Essex. "Trayvon Martin is my son, your son, her son; and we need to start standing up for one another all around the world."
The group marched to Rosa Parks Circle downtown, where they hoped to rally even more support.
The separate wrecks occurred around 5 a.m. north of Plainwell.
The heaviest snow showers will track through midday.
Ten people have filed a class action suit against Mercantile Bank, alleging the bank discriminated against minority business owners.
