GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A 12-year-old boy was alone when his house caught fire Monday evening because of a suspected electrical problem.
Grand Rapids firefighters responded to the 300 block of Dickinson Street SE shortly after 6 p.m. Fire officials on scene said that the fire appears to be electrical in nature, though an exact cause remained under investigation.
The 12-year-old boy called 911 to report the fire, a fire official said on scene. He boy said he was watching TV when the fire started.
There was significant damage to the building that reportedly was split into two apartment homes.
No one was hurt and firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.
