GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A 15-year-old girl was ejected as the car she was in slid off the edge of a ramp between eastbound I-96 and northbound US-131, went down an embankment and caught fire.
A family was headed to Petoskey for vacation in two cars, with their children in the lead car and the parents behind. The lead car took the ramp too fast and slid off.
The girl suffered only minor injuries and was taken to DeVos Children's Hospital to be examined.
The car was towed out of the embankment after the fire was put out.
A woman from Mount Pleasant died after her SUV crashed on a road in Montcalm County.
Mirror parts found at the scene indicate it may be a 2005 Chevrolet Uplander.
An observation survey was conducted by the Wayne State University Transportation Research Group.
