GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - The stairwell at a popular Grand Rapids venue from which three men have fallen to their deaths in the last four years is under construction.
Signs on doorways read "Stairwell closed for construction."
One door was unlocked. Inside, metal beams have been erected in the center of the spiral staircase. It appears a wall is being built to stop people from falling.
Kevin O'Brien, 36, died in May after falling four stories. In April, 21-year-old Zachary Bunting died after a fall from the same story. In 2009, Tylor Usher died after falling 30 feet. Police say alcohol was a factor in all three incidents.
24 Hour News 8 reached out to the Gilmore family -- which owns The B.O.B. -- late Tuesday to confirm what their plans are. As of 10 p.m., they had not returned the request for comment.
