GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - A high-tech company is expanding in Grand Rapids.
Open Systems Technologies (OST) does IT work for major companies, working with Amway and Steelcase.
The company also develops apps for your smartphone.
The Hope College graduates who created the Reindeer Cam took their cyber work to OST to create a mobile app for Apple, Android and Windows.
The company has been located on the city's west side since 2010, but now they're expanding in the building to accommodate their growing business.
"Companies like us, there's a lot of them in West Michigan, we're competing day in and day out with Silicon Valley," Michael Lomonaco, marketing director for OST, said. "[There are] some very large organizations and we're beating them."
The Grand Rapids office has hired six new people, and it hopes to hire more.
A ribbon cutting for the expansion happened Wednesday morning at OST, located at 605 Seward Ave. NW.
The company has offices in Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, Minneapolis and London.
