GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Seventeen Grand Rapids businesses sold alcohol to minors during the latest compliance check by police.
The Grand Rapids Police Department's Vice Unit conducted 125 compliance checks at "take-out licensed businesses over the past two weeks."
Clerks at the 17 businesses sold alcohol to underage police decoys. The clerks were cited and the business licensee will be cited to the Liquor Control Commission.
The operation was done in conjunction with the timing of high school graduations and related celebrations, according to a news release.
Police have not revealed the names of the cited businesses.
Ten people have filed a class action suit against Mercantile Bank, alleging the bank discriminated against minority business owners.
